This fall, HYOID unveils Wastories, a new music theatre creation with music by Eva Reiter, libretto by Hannah Dübgen, and video scenography by Koen Broos. The piece will premiere on 3 October at Musiques Rive Gauche in Paris, with a Belgian premiere following on 19 October at the legendary Transit Festival in Leuven.
Wastories explores the many meanings of waste—both literal and symbolic. The mountains of excess, the discarded materials we so easily throw ‘away’, speak volumes about how we relate to our environment and to each other. Reiter, Dübgen, Broos and the four voices of HYOID weave together personal stories, sound and imagery into a compelling theatrical tapestry. The result is a work that reflects on ecological concerns, the beauty of transformation, and our ongoing fascination with recycling and reinvention.
