HYOID & Myriam Van Imschoot: ‘newpolyphonies’ at De Singel and Kaaitheater

After a successful premiere at De Bijloke in Gent last fall and after a long covid imposed break, HYOID and Myriam Van Imschoot return to the stage with ‘newpolyphonies’ in De Singel in Antwerp and Kaaitheater in Brussels! Later this summer they will also perform an adapted version of the piece at the  renown summer festival in Darmstadt, Germany.

manyfold, meditative, monstrous, machinic, messianic, mimetic, mesmerizing, minuscule, mighty, methodical, momentary, mystical.

Inspired by insects, climate marches and airplane traffic coming to a halt, the leitmotif in this concert/performance is not the loud collective chant, but the experience that each individual – like a link in a chain – can set a vortex of sounds in motion. In newpolyphonies, four singers of HYOID join forces with 15 performers in a curious high mass about little differences with big impact.
